Kindergarten Registration is happening this week!
Theme – We are continuing our wind and water theme. This theme allows children to explore wind and water using observations, experiments, and books to learn more about topics such as evaporation, weather, temperature, insulation, rain, and snow.
This week we are reading:
* A Hat for Minerva Louise, By Janet Morgan Stoeke
*The Snowy Day, By Ezra Jack Keats
*Bringing the Rain to the Kapiti Plain
Small Groups this week·
*Drying Clay- Students will learn about the physical properties of clay. Last week we made clay sculptures. This week we will observe the changes that happened to our clay. (Science)
*Alphabet Memory- Students will play memory with alphabet cards. (Letter Awareness)
*Snowman Sequencing- Students will talk about and sequence the steps involved in making a snowman.
Choice Activities this week:
Art: “Snowy Day” scenes using Kosher salt as the snow.
Easel: Snow Man People using circles and other materials
Writing: Writing and illustrating observations from our clay experiments.
Dramatic Play: Playing with Winter Gear
Sand and Water table: water with tubes, cups, and water wheels
(transferring water from one location to another using tubes)
Blocks: Legos
Puzzles and Manipulatives: Puzzles
Songs, Word play and Letters :
Songs: What Are you Wearing?, Looby Loo, The More We Get Together, Open Shut Them.
Poems: Cloud, Mix a Pancake, Five Little Owls in an Old Elm Tree.
Literacy Skills: I’m thinking of… clue game, Alphabet clue game; If your name ends with (sound), raise your hand.
